We Did It!!!

Our Diamond Anniversary was AMAZING…even with 6 - 7 BIG HICCUPS, we managed to pull off a beautiful event with record attendance since at least 2010. The Nashville Chapter and Karen Boyd-Beamon rolled up their sleeves and did not hesitate to come to our rescue.

I’m still reeling from the event as my mind jumps around from moments to moments of the entire weekend.

The Royal Blue was EVERYTHING!

The Speakers! My cousins made me so proud as they not only shared information with us, there were a few emotional and self-healing (and revealing) moments that surprised themselves.

The Historical Bus Tour! Miss Elaine showed and explained Memphis history beautifully.

The catfish! Earnest Page III and Elyse Clay-Page prepared one of the BEST catfish dinners that I have had in a long time including delicious and well seasoned coleslaw (I’m a coleslaw snob).

Remembrance Ceremony! A addition to the picnic to remember our loved ones who lead the way for us but are no longer with us.

Last but certainly not least, FAMILY! Record Attendance including 25-26 children 4mo old through 17 years of age, 8 - 9 Octogenarians with the oldest person in attendance being Cousin Bonnie Jean Black-Clark at age 89! Attendance also included 28 - 30 people who have “never” come to the Century Family Reunion previously.

I’m sure there is much more to say but my my mind is scattered…and fatigued. After two weeks of 4-5 hours of nightly sleep, I slept 10 hours last night (and I’m still tired).

I hope and pray everyone returned home or to their next stop safely. I’ll get the 2023 minutes and the 2024 minutes out to you all in July after I return home to California; I’m going to do some research in Mississippi for a week before returning home (fellow genies: let me know if you need something looked up while I’m in Mississippi).
